Distribution of Cl in the Yoro River Basin, Central Japan, and Its Relation to the Residence Time of the Regional Groundwater Flow System

چکیده
This study investigates the potential of Cl in tracing young groundwater with residence times of up to ~50 years. Groundwater samples were obtained from 16 irrigation wells in paddy fields located within an upland–lowland system in the Yoro River basin, Central Japan. The Cl/Cl ratios were in the range of 17 to 362 10. Among the samples with higher Cl concentrations (>10 mg/L), two samples showed high nitrate concentrations as well (>30 mg/L). Except for these samples, the distribution of Cl in groundwater was essentially consistent with previous tritium concentration data measured in 1982 and 1994, considering the time that has elapsed since these earlier measurements OPEN ACCESS

Evaluation of Groundwater Chemistry of a Central Kerala River Basin, India using Multivariate Analysis
Statistical processing of data was necessary to arrive at a reasonable conclusion regarding the chemical behavior of groundwater in a river basin. Multivariate analysis was done to elucidate the groundwater chemistry of a Central Kerala River basin. Hydrochemical parameters like EC, pH, TDS, TH, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, F, HCO 3 +CO 3 , SO 4 , total Fe were estimated in the pre- monsoon and post-mons...
متن کاملRelationship between River Flow, Rainfall and Groundwater pumpage in Mikkes Basin (Morocco)
This paper investigates the relationship between river flow, rainfall and groundwater pumpage in the Mikkes stream during the period 1968-2009. The Mikkes basin is located in the north center of Morocco and consists of three different zones that represent diversified geologies. This basin includes a phreatic and confined aquifer in Saïs basin and a shallow aquifer in the Tabular Middle Atlas. A...
متن کاملThe effects of Temperature and Precipitation changes on the occurrence of water resources instability in Zayandeh-Rud Basin
Introduction Zayandeh-Rud basin in central Iran is a region with water problems. Zayandehrood River that originates from the Zardkuh Bakhtiary Mountain is the most important river of the region for the development of agriculture, and a supply for heavy industry and drinking water sectors and is very important in all of economic activities. In the last decade, the water resources of the basin h...
متن کاملLow flow frequency analysis by L-moments method (Case study: Iranian Central Plateau River Basin)
Knowledge about low flow statistics is essential for effective water resource planning and management in ungauged orpoorly gauged catchment areas, especially in arid and semi-arid regions such as Iran. We employed a data set of 20 riverflow time-series from the Iranian Central Plateau River Basin, Iran to evaluate the low-flow series using several frequencyanalysis methods and compared the resu...
متن کاملDemarcation of Groundwater Prospective Zones in Humid Tropical River Basin: A Geospatial Approach
Groundwater, being a vital resource, needs to be developed with proper understanding about its occurrence in time and space. Unscientific sand mining is a dominant environmental issue in this humid tropical river basin namely Bharathapuzha river basin geographically on central part of Kerala state, southwest part of India. The sandy layers along the river course declines its water holding capac...
